Hello & Welcome!

**Upcoming Show**I'll be performing in Ottawa on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Irene's Pub as special guest opener for the awesome Space/Alt Pop Ottawa band, The Lake Effect Sound. Check out the details under Calendar. Hope to see you there!

**Recent Show** Paul Irvine & His Soulless Young Devils had a great time at the Olde Stone Cottage Pub, performing a night of Paul's inspired original songs on Saturday, November 14th, 2015. Paul Irvine: Piano Vocals / Louis Baranyi-Irvine: Drums / Ken Wannamaker: Bass, Backing Vocals / Joel Schwartz: Guitar. Many thanks to everyone that made it out!

Check out my latest video: WE WILL HAVE OURSELVES A FLOOD.

This represents my debut as a director and features veteran actors, John Tench and Tony Nappo as Minister of War and Banker, respectively. Brian Neller plays the devilish Mystery Man; Toronto Film School grad, Heather Byrne is the Minister's Secretary; Atika Irvine-Tench plays the Operations Room Coordinator and Jack Irvine-Tench appears as the ever stoic propeller-carrying Wireless Operator Airman.

Damian Jacobs soldiered on as cameraman and editor, scaling walls to film the air raid siren and trudging through bogs to get that perfect angle shot. What a trooper! Arkadio Ambienti set the lights to perfection.

SYNOPSIS: The Minister of War and his pal, the Banker, conjure up a scheme to enlist the services of a shady character who will guarantee victory, provided they sign a declaration before midnight.

Check out my latest live performance video: I GOT STONED  (Paul Irvine & His Soulless Young Devils), shot during my CD release party at The Rivoli in Toronto on April 27, 2013.

The song is about that guy (or girl) we all know who is always giving it up. I've included the lyrics below the video for your reading pleasure.

The video climaxes with an inspired drum solo by Louis Baranyi-Irvine and features some heartfelt guitar work by Jessie Aaron Singh.

Production on the studio version of I GOT STONED is underway and will be released later this year as part of my 2nd album.

I GOT STONED

She played the sitar, I played the sarod

In her flowing sari she looked like a goddess of love

In '69 she took me home

I swear that was the last time I got stoned

'73 I was in the van

Heading for the coast, running from the man

Every one of us has a demon to call our own

I swear that was the last time I got stoned

I got stoned

The '80s came, the '90s went

I was stuck in neutral, my good luck spent

I cashed in my empties and withdrew the last of my loan

I swear that was the last time I got stoned

I got stoned

2012 was the end of it all

When the earth would shake and the sky would fall

And I waited all year for an angel to take me home

Yeah, I waited all year for an angel to take me home

I swear that was the last time I got stoned

I got stoned

Check out my latest live performance video, Coleman Hawkins, Tenor Man, third in a series shot during my CD release party at The Rivoli in Toronto on April 27, 2013.

The song tells the story of two legendary tenor saxophonists, Coleman Hawkins (1904-1969) and Lester Young (1909-1959), locking horns in a 'cutting session' in Kansas City, circa late 1930's.

Sax players, Alison Young and Matt Woroshyl, return to the stage midway through to give us a taste of what a cutting session may have felt like. You can feel the heat rising as these top-notch Canadian horn players step up and knock it out!

Coleman Hawkins, Tenor Man is the 6th track on my debut album, "Faux Pop - Vol. 1". On the album version, I played all instruments, so, to be performing the song live in the company of so many fine musicians was a real thrill!

I've now posted three videos below for your enjoyment. I hope you find time to view them. If you are so inclined, please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

The September 14th show at the Rivoli was a blast! Such a wonderful turn out. Thanks to all that made it a memorable night. And special thanks to Paige Cora for a fantastic opening set!

Earlier posts:

Had a good show at Murphy's Pub in Oshawa last Thursday (Mar7). This was the first performance for my band, The Soulless Young Devils, and they delivered big time! Good energy, good vibes! Thanks to everyone who came out and to Will McGuirk for inviting us. The night was dedicated to Stompin' Tom Connors - RIP. We hope he enjoyed the show!

On November 19, 2012, I delivered "Faux Pop - Vol. 1" to CBC Radio Music and Canadian Campus and Community Radio stations. It feels good to get the music out there!

My website is a work in progress and I'll be filling in the blanks in the not too distant future. That said, I just added an "About Songs" page and 'Liner Notes' to the "About Album" page. In the meantime, feel free to drop me a line through the Contact page or join my Email List. Thanks for stopping by!

All best wishes,

Paul
